About This Site

Welcome! I hope this blog can help you find the information you're looking for.

Diagnoses I've received over the past few months have led me to spend a lot of time on the internet searching for answers, explanations, definitions, treatments, statistics, and ways to improve my health. As I lost track of information I wanted to reference again, it just made sense to begin sharing the information that I find helpful and interesting all in one place. This would allow me to categorize the information so I can find it easily and therefore possibly help you as well.

Although my heart disease, Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, is not common, it has caused symptoms that are shared with other types of heart disease. For example, AHCM is my heart disease, but what does that mean? For me it means that I have a common condition called Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and due to the AHCM with LVH I have suffered from arrhythmia, heart failure, breathlessness, fatigue, etc. Due to heart failure I have also suffered swelling in my abdomen and extremities and the some of the arrhythmia have led me to feel faint and even pass out. So I feel the symptoms can bring people together, even if we do not share the same disease.

I've added more than just some forms of heart disease on here, such as information on Diabetes and Hypothyroidism, because many of us have multiple issues going on at the same time and it's important to consider all aspects of our health when taking care of our hearts.

There is very little information currently available about Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy AHCM, so much of the information provided will be generalized under Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, but anything I find on the Apical variant will be highlighted. My hope it to bring together all the information available on AHCM.

I will be gathering and sharing information on heart failure, the different types of heart arrhythmias, and devices such as pacemakers and ICDs.

I will also be sharing information concerning Hypothyroidism and Type II Diabetes of which I just recently learned I have after having heart failure.

So I hope that you will find my blog easy to navigate and helpful in answering any of the questions you may have.

Please feel free to comment, ask questions and share your own experiences. I have included a clickable glossary for all heart problems, etc. and will continue to add information and links to each term.
